China Glaze New Bohemians - No Plain Jane and Swanky Silk

Hey guys! I have a couple of the China Glaze New Bohemians to share with you today. These shades are duochrome metallics.

First up is No Plain Jane. I've shown three coats here. The formula was nice, but as you can see, brushstrokes are pretty unavoidable here. In the shade, the brushstrokes are less pronounced and the duochrome is stronger.

The description calls this a "lavender-pink," which I can kind of see, but the shift also looks kind of brown or even greyed to me. It's an interesting look that kind of reminds me of an oil slick.

In direct light or sunlight, the metallic aspect No Plain Jane gets more sparkly. I prefer the color this way, though it does make the duochrome a little less pronounced.

The second shade I have to share with you is Swanky Silk. It is a rosy gold that shifts to a more green-gold. I've shown three coats here.

The shift on this one is not as strong as on No Plain Jane, but it's still pretty. As you can see, it has the same brushstroke issue.

Like No Plain Jane, the metallic finish lights up with sparkles when it is in direct light or sunlight.

Overall, I liked these shades more than I thought I would. The brushstroke issue is a bit of a bummer but they really are quite sparkly, which I definitely like. I bet these would be lovely in a gradient... Maybe I will have to try that soon!

The China Glaze New Bohemian collection is available at fine salons and beauty supply stores nationwide now. Individual polishes retail for $6.99 MSRP.

The products in this post were sent to me by the manufacturer or their PR.

  1. I love both of these! Brush strokes aside that is. I saw somewhere that they were good for stamping! Great swatches btw :)

    1. A duochrome is a type of nail polish that changes color depending on the angle that you look at it.
