Contrary Polish On the Rocks Collection

It's been a minute since I posted some Contrary Polish shades. Today I've got swatches of the On the Rocks Collection from Winter 2013. These moody shades are inspired by rocks and minerals. Though the palette was designed for winter, gorgeous shimmers are always en vogue, don't you think?

Almandine is a brown-garnet shade with heavy gold shimmer. Three coats.

Dioptase is a green leaning teal with a gold shimmer. Three coats.

Fluorite is a deep blue purple with green and pink shimmer. I had trouble capturing the shimmer accurately in this shade. Three coats.

Graphite is a deep muddy grey with gold, silver, and pink shimmer plus dark grey micro flakes. The micro flakes are amazing, as is this shade of grey. Three coats.

Obsidian is a black jelly with green to blue shifting shimmer. A lovely twist on a plain black manicure. Three coats.

Tigerseye is a warm brown with heavy gold shimmer. I am totally obsessed with this one. I literally gasped out loud when I put it on my nails. Three coats.

As usual, the formula is without fault. They all glide on smoothly and evenly. Tigerseye, Graphite, and Fluorite are my picks, but you won't go wrong choosing any of these.

Contrary Polish is available from these stockists. Carrie also sells minis - get the details on contrarypolish.com. You can also keep up with Contrary on Facebook & Twitter.

These are all gorgeous! As are your nails - lol! Just curious...what kind of lighting do you use for the photos? I'm wondering what they will look like in everyday lighting.

  7. Hi Sharon! I have a lightbox that I made to diffuse light, so I take one shot with diffused lighting to mimic indoor conditions and one shot with the lamp inside the box to mimic outdoor conditions. I always try to make my photos as true to life as possible!
