31DC2012: Day 07, Black and White Nails

Hey guys! After the previous two days of intense nail art, I wanted to do something simple but still striking for Black and White Nails day.

The base of this manicure is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, as usual. Unfortunately, though, my bottle of MBSW is really getting low. I've gotta get another one or at least another OPI white soon!

Then I used an It's So Easy Nails Stripe Rite in black to paint on these squiggle shapes one at a time. I've never used this brand of striper before and I was really impressed. It handled great and the polish was super pigmented. Definite winner. I got mine at Sally Beauty (there are a lot of other colors, too!).

The striper was so clean and pigmented that these nails ended up looking like stamps or wraps to me. Really though, the squiggles were so easy to make! Even easier than stamping, if you ask me, and less clean up too!

The squiggle shapes on these nails kind of remind me of uncooked ramen noodles (or Justin Timberlake's hair in the 90's, same difference).

Last year's black and white nails were tuxedos, my very first tutorial! *sniff* Oh the memories...

Don't forget you can grab a challenge prompt or check out where we're going here.

  1. Stripe Rite stripers are my favorite...I used them in nail tech school and now I won't use any other brand...the polish in them dries quickly and is super easy to use! This looks great!! =)

  3. I have have the yellow Stripe Rite striper, and it dried matte--it almost reminded me of acrylic paint instead of nail polish! It was very pigmented but the finish definitely threw me for a loop.

  7. I really like these! They do look like wraps. I want to try the Stripe Rite stripers... I have a few Sinful Colors stripers and I'm way not in love with them.

  10. These are great! I saw the pic on Instagram first, and I really did think they were wraps. Also, that comment about JT's hair in the 90s being no different than uncooked ramen noodles is full of WIN!

  19. I LOVE These Definatly Going To Try It Out I Hav A Sally Hansen Striper And I'm So NOT In Love With It. It Comes Off When You Wash Your Hands Even If You Put A Good Top Coat On Plus It's $8 Which In My Opinion Is Expensive. I Will Definatly Going To Be Tying The One that You Suggested!! Thanks :)
