Contrary Polish Assorted Swatches

Good morning! I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend full of friends, family, and FOOD. I'm kicking the week off today with some Contrary Polish swatches, including but not limited to the rest of the Islands trio and the LE duo for Fall 2012. As with my previous Contrary post, each polish will be shown in indirect light and direct light, as I feel the lighting can really change the look of these polishes.

First, let's take a look at the LE duo.

Bonfire! It's a shimmery red-orange jelly with interesting dark specks that almost remind me of the ashes of a bonfire. This one looks rather orange in the bottle but applied redder. This is just two coats.

The second polish in the duo is called Hayride. A pretty medium brown, this polish is accented by gold shimmer and a sprinkling of brown. I am really big on nudes and neutrals lately, so I found this one to be quite lovely. Like Bonfire, this one only needed two coats.

Next up is Purple Smoke. This polish was a part of the first Contrary release! It is a gorgeous blue-toned grey with purple shimmer. The shimmer hides a bit until you get it in direct light, and then it becomes quite electric! This was opaque in two coats. It's a lovely winter shade, don't you think?

Lastly, I have swatches of the other two polishes in the Islands trio. If you missed Aruba, be sure to check it out in my first Contrary Polish post.

Santorini is definitely my favorite Contrary shade I've tried. The rich royal blue base lights up with a silvery white shimmer. The blue of this polish is just so pigmented and lovely, and the shimmer makes it even better! I've shown a quick two coats here. *swoon*

Anna Maria is a dark green-leaning teal shade with a fine gold shimmer. It's kind of dark and mysterious, like an eerie dusk. I used three coats here but this polish really only needs two.

I love Contrary polishes. The formula on all of these was excellent and pigmented, and the shimmers are lovely and visible. It's also fun to see an indie working in something other than glitter, and doing it so well! I love the indie market, so seeing this kind of specialization is exciting for me. Which ones are your favorites?

Full size Contrary Polishes are sold on Llarowe, and minis are available on the Contrary blog. You can also like Contrary Polish on Facebook!

  5. Looks like I have to add both Ana Maria and Santorini to my next shopping list.
Thankfully, purple smoke reminds me a lot of ChG Jungle Queen so I might be able to save on that...

  8. I don't think they are that unique - Santorini looks the nicest though.
