If there's one thing that's polarizing in nail polish, it's fuzzy/feathered glitter toppers. When I previewed this manicure on my Instagram, I got comments ranging from "I LOVE how that looks" to "No, just can't get on board with the fuzzy thing" (and that's on the nice end of the "didn't like it" spectrum).
Fuzzy glitter polishes are clear based polishes with short, skinny bar glitters. They are normally pretty high density glitters, which makes it so that you can wear them alone with just a few coats. You can also choose to layer them, like I did here, for a unique, visually textured effect. I personally like the way these polishes look, but can understand the resistance from others.

As I mentioned above, the Fuzzy Coat polish has a high glitter density; I only needed to use one coat for the coverage you see here. When I layered this yellow-orange topper over the pink creme base, it really tricked my eye into making the pink look more coral.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the fuzzy, feathered looking toppers? I know they were trendy last fall, but I really did enjoy breaking this one out for spring.
I honestly quite like them, depending on length of bar and finish. So the bars cannot be too long or shiny (I only like matte bar glitter), so I'm extremely picky about the bar glitter I like. I'm not this way with other glitter polishes but bar glitter makes me more particular than usual :P :)

ReplyDeleteI am a fuzzy coat fan. I love them but they are the devil to remove even with the tin foil wrap method. Your combo looks great. I may have to get those polishes out and play with them some more for summer too.
ReplyDeleteI like the fuzzy toppers. I have one from nails inc for example that has white and blue bar glitters and it looks genius over light blue. They're a lot of fun to experiment with, for example to make gradients and such!
ReplyDeletei bought the blue/yellow sally hansen fuzzy coat months ago but could never convince myself to try it! i think it looks cute if done correctly (as you did) but im sure it's a total pain to take off! maybe i'll use it as an accent nail sometime so i only have to suffer for two nails instead of ten. i'm glad you posted this since i'd totally forgotten about that nail polish hidden away somewhere in my drawers!!

ReplyDeleteI think whether people like the look of these toppers or not has a lot to do with the color combination. Some of the polishes in this style have had really odd color combinations that made them difficult to layer and/or look strange on their own. With the right colors they are awesome! I generally prefer them as toppers. They have a fun confetti/sprinkles look then. =)
ReplyDeleteI totally understand love/hate thing about this kind of toppers. Personally, I don't fancy normal bar glitters. However those fuzzy/feathered glitter toppers are somehow appealing to me. But still, I wouldn't wear it on its own. I did gradient with one of Nails Inc.'s topper 2 months ago.
ReplyDeleteIs Sally Hansen's easy to work with? The one I own (Nails Inc.) is super dense (actually a bit too dense for my liking).
Yes, I found it easy to work with! Though it seems like the densities are somewhat similar -- my photos show one coat.
