Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Glitter Gradients

Good evening! A bit of a late post for me today, but I gotta keep you guys on your toes, ya know?

This evening we're going to be taking a look at the Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez Collection glitters. Usually when I get a new collection, I do my best to make nail art out of as many of the polishes as I can. It's my hope that this method allows you to get a new perspective on the shades and see how they work for nail art.

However, this collection has six glitters and a shredded topper (among others), and they aren't very conducive to my normal type of nail art. So I've chosen to use them all in some lovely glitter gradients and share them together. I hope you enjoy!

First up we have Nicole by OPI Confetti Fun over OPI Black Onyx. A rainbow glitter topper, this one is set apart by the inclusion of micro sparkle.

Here is Nicole by OPI Inner Sparkle over OPI Skyfall. I like this combination of the pastel pink and purple glitters.

Next is Nicole by OPI Kissed at Midnight paired with Nicole by OPI Scarlett, another one of the Selena Gomez lacquers. The color of Scarlett is really lovely, I expected it to be a deeper red but it's light, youthful and fun.

Here I've paired Nicole by OPI Mi Fantasia with OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons. This glitter was a surprise favorite for me and worked brilliantly for the gradient. I love the density!

Nicole by OPI Stars at Night has been paired here with OPI Funky Dunkey. This holographic bar glitter topper is quite dense as well, and made for an interesting gradient look. I've never done a glitter gradient with bars before!

My favorite of the six glitters is Nicole by OPI Sweet Dreams, shown paired with OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! OK Fine!. The mix of purple and teal is great and I love the micro purple glitter.

Finally, we have Nicole by OPI Heavenly Angel paired with OPI Live and Let Die. It's an iridescent shredded glitter topper, and I like the way it looks with the shimmer in Live and Let Die. I did find it to be a bit sparse though, and so I used two coats of Heavenly Angel for the photo below.

What do you guys think? Which are your favorites?

Selena Gomez lacquers will be available January 2013 for $7.99 each at retailers including select Target, Walmart, CVS, K-mart, Rite Aid, ULTA, Sears, Meijer, Fred Meyer, Kroger and H-E-B locations. In Canada, this line will be available for $10.99 each at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart Canada, Jean Coutu, Loblaw, and London Drug.

  7. Funny, I was just looking at these today. I saw the rainbow glitter and thought "oh, another rainbow glitter, big deal!" then noticed the micro glitter and gave it a second glance, it was a nice addition! I also liked Sweet Dreams. I think it would be my favorite glitter of the collection too! Overall I felt that this collection was kind of a rehash of other polishes I've seen but I do like your gradient with the bar glitter in Stars at Night! I've never seen a gradient with bar glitter. It's pretty neat.

    1. If you are having trouble getting glitter on the brush, I recommend swirling it around in a circular motion in the bottle, and then gently wiping off the excess polish from one side of the brush only. This will leave the glitter on the other side but remove the excess clear.
