OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps - Girly Glam

Have you guys seen the new nail "apps" (aka wraps) by OPI yet? I have one of the patterns to show you today! There are currently 14 different patterns you can choose from -- 7 "shimmers" and 7 cremes. This particular pattern, Girly Glam, belongs to the shimmer line, though as you will see, it's more of a glitter.

These wraps are made of 100% real nail polish, similar to the Sally Hansen wraps that you may have seen before. They are thin and very flexible. You apply them without base coat or top coat. I'll admit I was a bit wary about not adding any topcoat to these, but they wore for four days without issue! I change my nails too often to leave them on much longer than that, but check out Wacky Laki for a longer wear test.

Application is simple: just clean your nails, peel, stick, and smooth! Then you just have to file the extra off the edges and you're done. I stuck them down in the middle, and then smoothed outward towards the sides of the nail. Since they are so thin and flexible, I had no issues with buckling edges or weird folds.

These are made with real glitter and polish, so I faced the same removal difficulties as a regular glitter manicure. It didn't want to come off easily! I obviously still wear glitter polish though, so I wouldn't let that stop me with these wraps, either.

The design is pretty! I was expecting the colors to be more defined, but it exceeded my expectations in terms of sparkle! That's a pretty good trade-off, I think.

There are a lot of strips in the package (16 to be exact). These strips WILL dry out over time, unlike the vinyl nail wraps you may have seen, so I might suggest putting them on your fingers and toes at the same time. They will last a very long time on your toes, and then you will still have a cute app pedicure even when you remove the wraps on your fingernails.

These strips are long. I managed to get two nails out of each strip, so I had a bunch left over. I tried repackaging them and then putting them in a Ziploc bag to try to see if they would save that way. I haven't checked them recently, but I will let you know how they are holding up when I post the second set of nail apps I have to share.

Pure Lacquer Nail Apps are available at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for the suggested retail price of $11.95. You can take a look at the other available designs over at Enamel Girl!

The product in this post was provided to me by the manufacturer or their PR.

  8. I don't know why but I can not seem to allow myself to even pay for the Sally Hanson ones but don't mind dropping eight to ten dollars on a bottle of polish. Maybe it is because I change my polish so much. But now that I've written this I can see how these would be a good idea for someone like me going on vacation. If I could just save up enough money to go somewhere decent I may purchase these in the future.

  12. I keep my nails pretty short, but If I want to wear nail apps I usually file them a little shorter so that I use 1 hand set of wraps for the whole mani! I only really grab them when they're on clearance or at Big Lots, then I don't feel as bad. A bottle lasts way longer for me, so I don't mind the money spent, but to only get 2 mani's from a set of wraps, hurts. lol
