Minnie-mani No. 3: Classic Minnie

Hello everyone! I've got the last of my Minnie-manis to show you today. This one actually uses all four of the colors together!

As a reminder to those of you that may have missed it before, I am trying this new thing where, instead of regularly swatching new collections, I am doing nail art or unique manicure looks with them. If you are interested in swatches, there are a ton of bloggers out there that have that covered! I suggest a quick Google search.

As you can see, I'm still going strong with the pointer and middle finger accent nails. For the accent nails, I started with a base of OPI The Color of Minnie.

The Color of Minnie is a cherry red almost-creme. It has a very faint pearly shimmer to it, which keeps it from being a standard red creme. The quantity of the pearl shimmer is just right -- any more pearlization and it would have looked dated. Instead, it is just classic! Coverage was good and the formula was nice. I used two coats in this manicure.

After letting that base dry, I grabbed my trusty small ended dotting tool. I drew on tiny hearts using OPI If You Moust, You Moust. It worked well for the nail art; I didn't have any issues with opacity. (For more of this polish, check out my first Minnie post.)

I also chose to use OPI Nothin' Mousie Bout It (the heart-shaped confetti glitter polish) in a special way: as a second type of accent nail on my thumb. I carefully painted on the glass flecky bits and avoided adding any of the hearts to my nail at first. I then fished the hearts out, and with the help of a nail art brush, carefully placed them in a pattern. I loved using this polish in a way that forced it to be uniform. (For more of this polish, check out my second Minnie post.)

The final color in this manicure can be seen on my ring finger and pinky. It's OPI I'm All Ears, and it's my second favorite shade in this collection. It's a lovely hot pink jellylike glass fleck. It's definitely a standout. Because of the nature of this type of polish, you will need to use more coats for opacity. I used three, but never fear! The formula was really nice and three coats weren't clumpy or thick at all.

I hope you've enjoyed my Vintage Minnie Mouse series! OPI's Vintage Minnie Mouse collection will be available starting in June. It will retail for $8.50 per bottle.

  1. So cute :D Congratulations, you did it again!

  2. I love how you manipulated the glitter hearts! That is so creative. :D

  3. I love this!! these posts are so unique - I love that you stepped outside of the box this is so awesome that the cuteness is driving me crazy I cant wait to get these to recreate this mani. Also sometimes I love colours/collections so much that I feel I want to wear "them all at once" (do you ever feel like this or am I a freak?) this has shown me some geat ways to do just that!

    THANKYOU! xx

  4. Adorable! Wow I don't think I'd have the patience to scoop out and place all of those hearts on your thumb!

  5. Your nail art is so fantastic. So many details and so pretty! I love the contrast of having both painted hearts and glitter harts for an accent (although at first I thought your painted hearts were the glitter hearts because they are so uniform!)

  6. I love the way you did your thumb, it's so creative!!

  7. The hearts are so cute and laid out so nicely :)

  8. I love what you did with the hearts on your thumb! I have a heart polish by NOPI so I may have to try that at some point. :)

  9. oh this is so pretty! I love it!

  10. I am not a fan of pink polishes on me but I like the colors on you and the design you made!

  11. lovely nail art! and nice blog, following it now =)
Hope you will visit my blog too and maybe follow me back =)

  12. I absolutely love the detail on your thumb! Great design overall, it's fancy and cute!

  13. this is so adorable! i love your thumb!

  14. I love how you used the glitter on your thumb! These are very cute nails! :)

  15. Beautiful! Love how you put the heart glitters on your thumb. :)

  16. Wow, you are so patient with those tiny hearts! Forever 21 also has a heart shaped glitter polish, but the hearts don't really come out very often. I wish there was a way to remove some of the clear polish so the hearts would be more concentrated, however buying OPI's version would probably be a lot easier.

  17. I'm on my way to the wholesalers to buy some now. Even more excited now that I have seen the uniformed hearts post. X
