Transformative Toppers: Nicole by OPI Sing You Like a Bee

I'm a bad bad blogger! I've had this beauty waiting to be shared with you for quite a while now... I'm sorry for keeping such a stunner of a secret. What you see here is a shimmery, textured topper over a purple creme base. Can you believe the combination? Keep reading for the details!

Nicole by OPI Sing You Like a Bee was released as part of the Carrie Underwood Collection. In the bottle, it is a milky white with a golden shimmer. But did you know that you can layer it over another color as a transformative topper?

This is just one coat layered over a purple creme. The texture is subtle but definitely noticeable, and the golden shimmer creates such an ethereal finish.

Are you drooling yet? Do you own this shade, and if so, have you tried layering it?

  4. Looks really gorgeous! I'm wondering what this looks like when worn on its own, or is it just meant to be used as a topcoat?

  5. Yes - you can wear it alone. In fact I'd venture to say that's its primary intention, more so than as a topper. Swatches here: http://www.adventuresinacetone.com/2014/01/swatch-saturday-nicole-by-opi-carrie.html

I'm so glad you posted this combo! I just purchased Sing You Like A Bee recently and was pretty disappointed when I tried it alone. Most swatches I saw made it look like a white texture with golden shimmer but on me it pulled VERY gold with peach undertones (maybe because my nail beds are so pink). I'm going to have to experiment with layering it over different colors now! Thanks for the inspiration! :)

Btw I miss your square nails, but you're lucky and both shapes suit you! :)

  10. Thanks for the feature! Sometimes I miss my squares too but overall I think I prefer the rounds.

Is that one similar to OPI's Ski Slope Sweetie from the Mariah Carey collection by chance? I have that one, so maybe I'll give it a try. Love this look better than the polish on its own.

  12. I have the OPI but haven't worn it- I believe they are similar but the OPI doesn't have texture.
