How you like that title?
Today's nail art came about when I decided I wanted to do something that involved some naked nail. I remembered really loving this version that Nailside did of her cloud design, and kind of went off of that. I wanted mine to be more random though, so I painted with gaps, painted from the sides, bottom... I wanted each nail to be different!
The grayish color is Color Club Revvvolution. I love it because it is a one coater polish -- super pigmented and incredibly easy to control.
The red sparkle is Zoya Sarah. ZOYA SARAH! The one that they named after me. I'm not usually super into reds but I do love this one. :)
All of the blobs were freehanded on and then I just cleaned up around the edges. It was really simple and fun to do. I just kind of relaxed and started painting whatever! I showed these to my roommate as well as some other nail enthusiasts and I got a lot of comments that they look like abstract hearts.
I really like the way that my thumb turned out, in particular. Kind of inwardly droopy like a curtain.
I think that if I were to do this again I might do more coming in from the sides instead of coming up from the bottom. I would also use more contrasting colors.
But I am super pleased with the way that this turned out, in general!
I love manicures that incorporate nude nail along with nail art. There's something so cool about it to me... like the nail art is floating over the nail.
what lovely naked blobs you have
ReplyDeleteI love this! I am envious of your long nail beds LOL. I might use this idea for one of the days in one of the Challenges I am currently doing.
ReplyDeleteThese are great! I was thinking that they looked like hearts when I first looked at them.
ReplyDeleteI like the comment about the nail art floating over the nail, it really is a very cool effect!
That looks so great. :D They looked like hearts to me, too.
ReplyDeletesoo cute!
ReplyDeleteI always love nail art that allows some of the naked nail to peek through...I'm not sure why, but it looks so cool! That was the idea I had when I did some polka dots recently...I love your design and need to try it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!! I love love love that red!
ReplyDeleteI really really love these! I agree with Steph and Lizzy, they do look like hearts!

ReplyDeleteand it does look like hearts lol.. although I didn't realize it until you mentioned your friends comments :P
That was one of the dirtiest titles I have ever seen. Or my mind is just dirty :)
ReplyDeleteI like these! Really interesting look! When I looked from far away I was concerned that they might look like cuts but they really don't! Very cool look!

ReplyDeletethat looks awesome! i'm loving negative space in manicures lately
ReplyDeleteI love the abstract shapes but I'd use a basecolor. My nails aren't as pretty naked though as yours haha, all yellow and ugly iinstead of this gorgeous blushy pink <3.
ReplyDeletewow love this idea a lot looks really great! Your great with nail art! you make it look very neat!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this design! It looks fabulous on your nails! :)
ReplyDeleteCOOOOOL!!! at a distance I thought this was a water marble, but upon closer inspection it is much more detailed and deliberate! a very good alternate version to nailside's! super cool. i wish i had the dexterity to pull that off!! love your blog.
ReplyDeleteThis peeping tom LOVES the naked blobs!

ReplyDeleteI like nail art with a naked nail underneath. Wish I could do it on my own nails, but they're too yellow xD I actually thought too these were hearts :)
ReplyDeletewow i love this! it reminds me of a lava lamp! you picked perfect colors for this. I showed a photo to my boyfriend who replied "that kind of looks like those cloud nails." I have him so well trained :-p
ReplyDeletethis is one of the more interesting manis i've seen. i think...i think i want to ask for its hand in marriage.
ReplyDeletenicely done :D
ReplyDeleteso pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis is honestly so so so so pretty! I love it! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting and pretty :)
ReplyDeleteWOW - this is great! Love the colors you picked - they are favs of mine and really look good together. Love that you did this on a nude nail.
ReplyDeleteI love nude nails... but it seems that if I use only clear, base coat or not, it wants to peel in the clear parts. Any particular base you use that is sticky?
ReplyDeleteFun! I do like how the nail art "floats" on the nail with the clear parts. :)
ReplyDeleteVery chic, love it!
ReplyDeleteawesome, now i wanna copycat!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty polish! I need to try this some time. =]
