Sweethearts - Nicole by OPI Modern Family Nail Art

Today I have my final Nicole by OPI Modern Family Collection design to share with you! This was one of those unexpected designs for me, where you sit down not knowing what you are going to paint, and then it just... happens!

The base, Nicole by OPI Stand By Your Manny, is a pretty periwinkle with silver shimmer. The shimmer is definitely noticeable in person. I love when that happens -- it's always disappointing when shimmer doesn't translate from the bottle to the nail. Thankfully, not a problem here! I needed three coats for opacity, but they didn't feel thick.

Then I painted on the hearts freehand with my medium length striper brush and Nicole by OPI I Do De-Claire!, a frosty muted pink. I expected to dislike this shade but gave it a shot anyway... I was surprised! I think it actually worked great in this context, giving the nails a sort of Little House On The Prairie/satiny quilted quality when combined with the other shades.

The final step was to outline the big hearts with Nicole by OPI Am I Making Myself Claire?. If I had the chance to do this nail art over again, I would probably paint this color on first, and then do the inside of the hearts second. AIMMC provided a nice bit of contrast between the darker pink and the blue, and is definitely the kind of neutral shade I can see myself wearing a lot going forward.

Are you guys feeling the quilty vibe? Do you like the frosty pink in this context, or are you just not feelin' it? I do know one thing -- Stand By Your Manny is a winner in my book!

Modern Family lacquers should be available now! Polishes retail for $7.99 each at retailers including select Walmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid, Kmart, Kroger, ULTA, H-E-B, Meijer and Duane Reade locations. In Canada, this line will be available for $10.99 each at Shoppers Drug Mart, Walmart Canada, Jean Coutu, Loblaw, and London Drug.

  2. Lovely! I agree that the neutral really added something to the blue and pink. I found Stand by Your Manny to be so sheer for me, 4 coats I think it was. I love the colour, but just wish the formula was a bit better.
