Minnie-mani No. 3: Classic Minnie

Hello everyone! I've got the last of my Minnie-manis to show you today. This one actually uses all four of the colors together!

As a reminder to those of you that may have missed it before, I am trying this new thing where, instead of regularly swatching new collections, I am doing nail art or unique manicure looks with them. If you are interested in swatches, there are a ton of bloggers out there that have that covered! I suggest a quick Google search.

As you can see, I'm still going strong with the pointer and middle finger accent nails. For the accent nails, I started with a base of OPI The Color of Minnie.

The Color of Minnie is a cherry red almost-creme. It has a very faint pearly shimmer to it, which keeps it from being a standard red creme. The quantity of the pearl shimmer is just right -- any more pearlization and it would have looked dated. Instead, it is just classic! Coverage was good and the formula was nice. I used two coats in this manicure.

After letting that base dry, I grabbed my trusty small ended dotting tool. I drew on tiny hearts using OPI If You Moust, You Moust. It worked well for the nail art; I didn't have any issues with opacity. (For more of this polish, check out my first Minnie post.)

I also chose to use OPI Nothin' Mousie Bout It (the heart-shaped confetti glitter polish) in a special way: as a second type of accent nail on my thumb. I carefully painted on the glass flecky bits and avoided adding any of the hearts to my nail at first. I then fished the hearts out, and with the help of a nail art brush, carefully placed them in a pattern. I loved using this polish in a way that forced it to be uniform. (For more of this polish, check out my second Minnie post.)

The final color in this manicure can be seen on my ring finger and pinky. It's OPI I'm All Ears, and it's my second favorite shade in this collection. It's a lovely hot pink jellylike glass fleck. It's definitely a standout. Because of the nature of this type of polish, you will need to use more coats for opacity. I used three, but never fear! The formula was really nice and three coats weren't clumpy or thick at all.

I hope you've enjoyed my Vintage Minnie Mouse series! OPI's Vintage Minnie Mouse collection will be available starting in June. It will retail for $8.50 per bottle.

The product(s) in this post were provided to me by the manufacturer or their PR.

  5. Your nail art is so fantastic. So many details and so pretty! I love the contrast of having both painted hearts and glitter harts for an accent (although at first I thought your painted hearts were the glitter hearts because they are so uniform!)

  15. Wow, you are so patient with those tiny hearts! Forever 21 also has a heart shaped glitter polish, but the hearts don't really come out very often. I wish there was a way to remove some of the clear polish so the hearts would be more concentrated, however buying OPI's version would probably be a lot easier.
