Hey guys! Have you heard of the indie brand Shimmer? It's a shop that specializes in super dense glitters, with glitter pieces that are usually on the smaller size. The glitters are really complex, and I wanted to do them justice! In order to do that, I am trying out this swatch/macro combo image, which I hope is helpful.
All of these swatches are just one coat of glitter, so you can see how terrifically dense they are. You would definitely be able to achieve full coverage in two or three coats for most of these if you wanted to.
It is also worth noting that these are incredibly easy to apply. They control well, aren't thick or clumpy in the least, and the glitters disperse evenly without any pushing.
Carmen is an orangey gold. I have shown it here over OPI If You Moust, You Moust.
Caroline is a gorgeous blend or purples and magentas. For this swatch, I have layered it over American Apparel Dynasty.
Cassandra is an iridescent glitter topper, reminiscent of China Glaze Snow Globe. For this combination, I have layered it over OPI Black Onyx.
Cindy is a rich red glitter accented with gold. I have shown it here over China Glaze Prey Tell.
Gerry is a deep indigo with accents of red and blue. This swatch shows it over China Glaze Gothic Lolita.
Jennifer is a subtly beautiful glitter in a silvery blue. It kind of reminds me of antiques! Here I have shown it over Sally Hansen Wet Cement.
Jenny is a tealy-blue glitter with purples and golds. Here it is layered over China Glaze Sea Spray.
Melissa is a pink and purple party with bits of gold and red. Perfect for the girly girl in all of us! This swatch shows it over China Glaze Purr-fect Plum.
Stephanie has a blue base, but there are so many other colors in this one! It's a favorite for me. I have shown it here over China Glaze Secret Periwinkle.
Tracy is a cool toned gold. Here is Tracy layered over China Glaze Westside Warrior.
Trisha is an orange lover's dream! Of course, it's not just orange -- you'll also find bits of blue, purple, and gold. I have layered it over China Glaze Kalahari Kiss.
Vanessa is a sultry dark glitter, with black, silver, and reds. I have shown it here over OPI Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine!.
Phew!! Can you believe these? They are really complex and beautiful. I'm not usually one for this type of glitter but I've got to say that these are great. My favorites would have to be Cindy, Stephanie, and Gerry, though it's hard to narrow it down that far, even.
You can find Shimmer Polish on her website and on Etsy.
The products in this post were provided to me by the manufacturer or their PR.
awwww. these are so beautiful. Just my sort of thing! These are the moments I wish I lived in the US. Just for the polish hauls!

ReplyDeleteYour fingers must ache terribly after doing twelve swatches of glitter. My heart goes out to you...:D Love the colors, btw.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I've seen other swatches of these polishes by other bloggers and nothing really made me say 'I need these!' Your swatches, on the other hand made me say that about the majority if them! I think it's the combination of the macro shot and the swatch. Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteEvery single one of these is so pretty! Thanks for the swatches!!
ReplyDeleteThe swatches and macros are beautiful and her polishes are lovely! I do think they are a little on the expensive side though at $12/bottle + shipping (cringe). I do think they are definitely worth saving up for a few though.
ReplyDeleteThese look all incredibly stunning, I'm in love :)
ReplyDeletewow - beautiful photos. I especially love the way you've shown the photo of just the glitter next to the swatch xx
ReplyDeleteWow! These are lovely! I'm not usually into dense glitters like this, I usually like a little more sparse, chunky glitters but these are beautiful!
ReplyDelete-Elissa
I really like the way you showed these. I am on a very small screen and having the macro right next to your hand really shows off the polish. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLovely! I'll tell you, i love this new indie brands! I'm a huge fan of glitter, and this ones are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow! These are insanely gorgeous! I love almost all of them. I'm glad you did a post of them because I've never heard of this brand before.
ReplyDeleteI really like these swatches! I've seen quite a few Shimmer polishes on another blog, but she never layers them like this. This makes me REALLY love these polishes because I was so unsure about them before. Thanks for the help =D
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Your color combinations look really lovely!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful glitters! I love the pink and gold combination of the first swatch.
ReplyDeleteAwesome swatches!
ReplyDeleteOkay excuse me while I obsess for a minute here, but you did an AMAZING job showing these polishes. The swatches are great and the macro on the side is genius for showing the detail. I seriously think I want ALL of these now. Your base colour choices are great too, they match the polishes instead of being too distracting. One question, do you think these glitters could be built to opacity?? I love wearing them that way!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, these could absolutely be built to opacity. I think that other bloggers have swatched some of them that way if you google around a bit!
DeleteWow these are gorgeous! I'm especially loving Tracy, Gerry, and Caroline.
ReplyDeleteWoooooow these are so wonderful! I wish more Etsy shops shipped overseas (and that I had money to buy indie polish, for that matter...) I'm in love with Cassandra, Jenny and Jennifer :)
ReplyDeleteI have bought a ton of Shimmer polish lately and i must say they are so beautiful and her customer service is top notch! Super fast response and shipping!

ReplyDeletelove it that you showed how they looked on the nails and the swatches, glitter nail varnish can often look quite different actually on the nails, love them all but Vanessa is my fav!!
ReplyDeleteWow they look great!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, Vanessa reminded of Tony Moly's Earth. but i took it out and realised that it doesn't look like it at all. lol.
