Reptilian Dot Nail Art

Hey friends! This morning's post is a simple dot nail art look using one of the Nicole by OPI Target Exclusives for Fall 2012 - Mer-maid for Each Other.

This manicure is really simple! I started with a black base. Using the large end of a dotting tool, I added big dots going down the middle of the nail. I then flipped the dotting tool over to the small sized end and added two lines of smaller dots on either side.

This looks kind of like alligator scales to me because of the colors in Mer-maid For Each Other. It's duochrome nature makes this polish shift from a warm green to a cool, almost cyan-toned green. It's very pretty!

I'm not usually one for metallic polish on the full nail (just a personal preference), but I do like it in nail art like this. It looks so sparkly and dimensional!

So there you have it! Are you a fan of dotty nail art? I often forget to reach for my dotter when I am looking for a quick and easy nail art option -- I must make a mental note to use it more!

Mer-maid For Each Other is available now at Target and on Target.com for $7.04. Nicole by OPI polishes are 3-free.

Some of the products in this post were sent to me for review.

  1. Wow it looked so even and perfect that I thought you used a stamp! (stamped the black over the metallic or something)

  2. LOVE me the dotting tool! This reminds me of one I did when I was just beginning to get a bit of a fan base. Made a tutorial for it if you're interested.

You make sound everything so simple, but I'm so incapable of getting 2 dots of same size, let's not talk about making a row of them!
