31DC2012: Day 10, Gradient Nails

Since I did a wild and crazy gradient manicure for yesterday's prompt, I wanted to do something a little simpler and more elegant for "gradient nails" day. I went with a French manicure gradient.

This was inspired by this French manicure gradient that I saw on Pinterest. Unfortunately, the pin wasn't properly sourced, and I can't find who did the original. If anyone knows, please let me know. (EDIT: The original nails are potentially from this site, though it's hard to know for sure!)

Mine started with a base of three coats of L'Oreal Sweet Nothings. Then, I sponged on a few layers of OPI Alpine Snow.

I like this look a lot. I like it way more than a traditional French manicure -- it's much more chic and definitely on trend. It's also a great way to rock an understated mani and still cover your my stains.

For those of you that haven't tried a gradient manicure yet, make sure to check out The Nailasaurus' tutorial.

Last year's gradient manicure was technically an ombre. The Swatchaholic woulda killed me back then for using the wrong terminology. ;)

Check out the upcoming challenge days here.
